Wellness is achieved when all dimensions of a person’s life are integrated and in balance: Physical, emotional, and spiritual. Wellness Workshops are interactive programs designed to engage, educate, and motivate participants to incorporate wellness into their lives.

Our array of wellness workshops and clinics assists participants in cultivating both physical and mental health and well-being by harnessing the healing power of transcendental meditation, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), naturopathy, cognitive behavioral therapy, nutrition, hydration, spirituality, journaling, and sleep.

Mindful Meditation
Meditation 101
While meditating we are simply seeing what the mind has been doing all along.
Join us as for an hour of gladdening the mind and heart!

Every Wednesday | 4:00PM – 5:00PM

$10 per member | $15 per resort guest | $25 per non-member

Together, we will practice the Art of Mindful Meditation. Taught by experienced meditation instructor, Charlene Wang MS, RD, CHC, this introduction to meditation class teaches the basic elements of mindful meditation. Each class is self contained and will include an education based, guided meditation. Classes include clear instruction, guided meditation, and a chance to discuss & ask questions. Suitable for beginners and those with meditation experience. The small class size provides opportunities to ask individualized questions about beginning the practice of meditation. Registration is required 7-days prior to arrival. Join us Every Wednesday, in the Movement Studio at Garden of the Gods resort and Club, from 4:00PM – 5:00PM.

The Female Experience | July 12 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Micah Sutton, DC (Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine), will educate participants about optimal nervous system function and musculoskeletal health throughout the different stages of the female journey. She will touch on a few of the more specific times in life when chiropractic care can be particularly beneficial such as pregnancy, perimenopause, and midlife when stress levels tend to be the highest. As a ‘teaser’, to pique interest for attending the next session, Dr. Sutton will discuss stress and how it often manifests as physical pain years later.

Karly Powell, ND (Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine), will focus on setting foundations for wellness in everyday life with a special focus a on healthy nutritional habits. Dr. Powell will discuss the importance of nutrition, including diet modification and supplement use, through all stages of a woman's life and the connection between the food we eat and our risk for chronic disease.

Kelli Miller, MSOM, L.Ac (Licensed Acupuncturist), will discuss the benefits of acupuncture in regard to balancing the energy systems within the body, overcoming insomnia and sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal issues, depression and anxiety, and skin rejuvenation.

Melinda Poland, NP (Board Certified Nurse Practitioner), will present an overview of the transition of female hormones from adolescence through post-menopause. She will lead a discussion of the hormones which are produced from the ovaries, pituitary and adrenal glands; their main functions and options available for hormone replacement. Melinda will provide an overview of bio-identical hormone therapy and how this approach differs from “traditional” prescriptions.

Mind & Body | July 19 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Micah Sutton, DC will discuss chiropractic care as a mechanism for balancing the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. She will identify areas in women’s lives that often end up creating patterns of pain. The foundation of this theory is that most physical pain is attributed to the ‘3Ts’: thoughts, trauma, and toxins. We will identify areas in life where women are often exposed to these factors and discuss strategies to help overcome them. Dr. Sutton will highlight the benefits of regular chiropractic care as a preventative and holistic approach to health and wellness.

Kelli Miller, MSOM, L.Ac, will delve into the mind/body connection as it relates to Chinese medicine. Participants will learn what emotions are associated with different organ systems, how emotional imbalances can lead to physical symptoms and ways in which acupuncture can promote holistic well-being of the body, mind, and emotions. The preventive nature of acupuncture also will be discussed as it relates to the mind/body connection.

Charlene Wang, MS, RD, CHC, CHTP (Registered Dietitian, Health Coach and Energy Practitioner), will explore a variety of meditation techniques and enlighten participants about the endless benefits of meditation for women. A consistent meditation practice can change your life by removing layers of depression, anxiety, anger and stress which have built up over the years. By removing these layers your mind is able to function in its optimal state.

Ron Apgar, LCP, CEAP (licensed professional counselor) will focus on focus on goal setting, visualization to reach a higher level of wellness, transformation, self-discovery and learning an appreciation for your whole-body health.

Nutrition & Fitness | August 2 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Karly Powell, ND will discuss the role of functional blood chemistry and genetic testing in identifying nutritional deficiencies and subtle cellular imbalances. You will learn how these individual vulnerabilities can be assessed to uncover the deepest root cause of fatigue, thyroid disease, fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions, weight gain, cognitive decline, and more. 

Melinda Poland, NP will give an overview of sexual dysfunction in women. Sexual dysfunction can occur for a variety of reasons and can affect women from early childbearing age through post menopause. This discussion will present the most common causes of sexual dysfunction, the reasons that are most likely associated with these causes and treatment options. We will discuss decreased libido, vaginal and pelvic pain, and contributing psychological factors that can impede healthy intimacy.

Steven Thompson, CPT (Certified personal Trainer and Holistic Human Performance Coach), will share his approach to health and wellness. Working with the mind and then transitioning to the physical component, which produces positive habit changes, Steve will show how these changes lead to long-term sustainable results. Furthermore, he will share how you can create an effective, fun exercise routine that can easily be integrated into your everyday life. 

Kellie Gragg, MPH, RDN, CDR (Registered Dietitian, Diabetes Management, Sports Nutrition, Weight Management), asks the question “does your mood seem to direct your food choices from day to day?” How many times have you chosen a food based on a mysterious “craving”? This session will explore the “mood-food connection” from PMS to pregnancy to menopause. Arming yourself with the right foods will prepare you to fight unhealthy cravings and teach your body to want food that will strengthen and prepare you for vibrant health throughout every age and stage of your life.
